Welcome to our Secular Studies information page.

Welcome to the JIQ website! I am Jennifer Seideman, the secular studies principal at JIQ. This is my eighteenth year here. I am proud to say that I have been here since our doors opened in 2002. I began my career as an elementary school teacher teaching grades N-3. At JIQ, I taught grades first and second from 2002-2004, then in 2004, I was promoted to assistant principal and in 2006 to the elementary school principal.

When the Jewish Institute of Queens initially opened its doors 18 years ago as a developing school with 3 classes (first through third grade) with 60 students, the entire staff was determined for each child to be successful and to make a difference in their lives.

Today, I am happy to report that JIQ continues to grow and has expanded from a first-third grade school to a N-12 school. Our current enrollment is over 500 students. Everyone here at JIQ is committed to providing an outstanding education for all of our students.

As a Nursery through Grade 12 school, we have the privilege of being a part of both the primary and secondary stages of our students` learning. Our mission in the elementary school is to instill a love of learning through a hands-on approach. To be aware of each child’s individual ability to learn and to cater to those children who need extra help or who need enrichment.

Our goal is for each child to wake up each morning excited to come to school and to be prepared to learn each day. We are a community of learners that promote academic excellence and provide a safe and welcoming environment for all of our students and staff.

All of us at The Jewish Institute of Queens along with our involved and supportive parents and enthusiastic students are committed to provide the very best learning experiences to each and every child. I am hoping that this website tour brings our uniquely interesting school to life and I very much look forward to meeting you.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Jennifer Seideman
